david aguilera good morning. yes. hopefully you remembered to et the clocks back. we've more sunshine to to look forward to today than yesterday. here's a look at current temperatures now. it's 42 in lewisville. greenville willage 41 same in englewood. and the weather watcher doug goodman in north lafayette is coming in at 43 this morning. saturdayel lie and radar together -- satellite and radar together we have a slow spinning over colorado. we are right under it with the little dry slot over denver. mostly clear skies but there's rain in rain clouds and high mown int -- mountain snow in western colorado. so we have moisture coming through. still effects of that. but for today, in denver in the dry side of this whole thing. so we will go about 51 at 9 a.m. mostly sunny and 65 at noon. 68 for the high and that's above normal for this time of year. and a lot more sunshine today as well. we have a cold front that will slide through tomorrow. i will let you know if there's rain kelly that comes along

>> okay. donald trump making a visit to denver last night holding a rally at national western complex. trump took the stage around 10:30 and gave close to a 1 hour speech in an effort to win colorado and win more voters here. trump told the crowd to drop off the ballots. >> if you haven't mailed in your ballot, don't do that. bring it. bring it. take it to the drop box in don't put it in the mail i know everybody says how honest everything is with our political system. but we all know better. go in person tower local polling center and drop it in. and make sure you get it dropped in. >> earlier saturday night a protester caused a security scare at a donald trump rally in nevada while hillary clinton rallied with a pop star. mark albert has the latest. >> reporter: secret service

someone yelled gun. while a protester approached the stage. a man was quickly taken into custody and escorted out of the building but no weapon was found. and the protester was released. >> somebody yelled something about a gun. >> reporter: right. >> and that's where things got out of hand i mean people were just you know kicking me and you know grabbing my arms and twisting and i am very thankful for the law enforcement who was able to come. >> reporter: trump returned to the stage and thanked the et bring the suspect down. >> you are amazing. thank you fellas. i saw what you were doing. that's a tough group of people thank you. >> reporter: and another scare on the campaign trail saturday night, a car slammed into the side of a media bus covering clinton running mate tim kainewhile the motorcade was heading to the airport. would be reporter was thrown into the aisle. concert in philadelphia. clinton says the race is about the future. >> to make sure that america lives up to its promise to every one of our people especially everyone of our children. >> reporter: in a sign the race may be tightening more than they expected, president obama has added a campaign stop in michigan monday to help get young vote tortes polls. before -- voters to the polls before meeting up with the democratic nominee for a final rally in philadelphi of election coverage on tuesday. we will start with a special edition of cbs4 news on channel 4 at 4:00. then at 5, we will join cbs news for live national election coverage until 10 and that's followed by cbs4 news at 10. a church in jefferson county is picking up the pieces after a pastor says someone opened fire in the church. as andrea flores reports, the criminals caused thousands of dollars in damage.

and welcome back to cbs morning morning-- 4 morning news. 42 degrees as we look at buildings in down down den -- downtown denver. it's early we have a hour back. an extra hour of sleep felt pretty good. two studies suggest people who bike regularly to work or for fun are less likely to develop cardiovascular trouble. doctors found biking a half- hour each week protection. and new research finds not getting enough sleep may cause people to eat more the next day. doctors in the uk looked at 11 previous studies and found sleep deprived people consumed on average an extra 385 calories the following day with most calories coming from higher fat and lower protein foods. and researchers at massachusetts general hospital say smoking significantly reduces the life span of people

the study found smokers with hiv can develop related diseases such as lung cancer more often than those who are not infected. smoking could also cut the life span of an hiv patient by more than 8 years. and i jaunt grains are making a -- ancient grains are making a come back in big way it's one of the fastest growing modern food trends it's loaded with protein and nutrients but what are they and how do you use them. weija jiang answer. >> this is a tuscan bean salad. >> reporter: erin ith had never even heard of it but these days she cooks with it several times a week. >> one cup to two cups can of water. >> reporter: it's one of the ancient grains they have not been modified over the last several hundred years and are packed with more nutrients than other grains. >> a lot them are higher in protein than wheat and they have a lot of different

through. and we have rain south of lamar with the moisture wrapping around the low. upper-level low kind of cut off from the main flow with the jet stream flowing by a up high. and this is taking its time moving through colorado. once it does move out, we will clear out later tonight and then we turn our attention to a cold front that's moving into california washington and oregon out here. the business end of this the moisture end will go up and over the northern rockies. so what we will see is probably a cool down for monday and tuesday. and then we will get back in the warm stuff by the middle for today the rain starts to slow pull out east, but i think it's going to be cloudy day along the kansas line all day long. there's the map at noon. we will be in the sunshine in denver and a few clouds in the mountains. we might get a little bit of rain still popping late in the day. and otherwise we will be partly cloudy here in the afternoon for denver. so a good looking day. temperature wise 60s and 70s to the east. in the 50s and 60s in the montins and the west. high today in -- mountains in the in the west. high today 68 and cooler

new big mac options next year. cut merse will be able to choose -- customers will be able to choose from match the c junior -- mac junior or grand mac when the regular size won't do. and as we get close to the end of the year, it's time to think about health care coverage. whether it's obama care or through your employer. jill schlesinger tells us somethings to keep in mind. >> reporter: open enrollment started for the affordable care act and if you are million americans who are enrolled or plan to purchase coverage for 2017 this is what you need to know. enrollment is opened through january 31st but if you want coverage to begin as of the first of the year your deadline is december 15th. if you signed up last year use this time to ensure your current plan is still the best choice. you need to update the income data or else you won't have accurate information about whether or not you are he will jell for -- eligible for tax credits.

level obama care plan is set to spike by a 22% next year, be sure to determine if you qualify for health to -- help to pay for the insurance. government says increase in premiums shouldn't suggestly affect more than 80% of enrollees who will qualify for tax credits to make that coverage more affordable. if you don't have any health care through an employer another government program through obama care or don't qualify will be subject to the individual mandate the penalty for not having insurance. the fees increase this year it's the higher of 2 1/2% of your income or 695 dollars per adult to a maximum of 2 085 per fallly. you pay it on the federal -- family. you pay it on the federal income faction for theyear you don't have coverage. they will he hold back the amount of fee from future

have a man in custody after a trump field office was vandalized friday night. police say michael ferrara is suspected of throwing a rock through a window on the office on 18th and clarkson. two dozen volunteers were inside but no one was hurt. earlier that morning, someone painted profanity and antitrump messages on the the wall and windows at the same office. no word whether ferrara is linked to that case. on the democratic side, former candidate bernie sanders was in colorado saturday campaigning for his former rival hillary clinton. and democratic u.s. congress candidate carol. sanders talked about the importance of raising the minimum wage and access to health care and says clinton and carol will fight for -- carroll will fight for the issues. >> there is a lot of responsibility on your shoulders. let us in the next three days do everything we can to make

what to think. >> as a resident in hallett hall we need to understand whether the person lives here whether or not they are still here. >> reporter: the coed dorm has key card system that some students say makes them feel safe a feeling that faded after the attack that leaves many questions unanswered. >> whether it was a groping and the girl stopped it immediately or whether it got to the point where there was a physical altercation and this girl got messed up. like we don't know how dangerous this person is and because it's the weekend you know. kids are coming back and all different states and they need to know they are safe. >> reporter: melissa garcia, cbs4 news. new developments in the case it would have men accused of starting a wild fire in boulder county. 28-year-old jimmy suggs and zachary cookendale pleaded guilty to charges of arson and will be sentenced on november 1th of the authorities say the two from alabama were camping in nederland and failed to

the wild fire went onto burn 8 homes and more than 500 acres. an update on a wild fire burning in southern colorado. the junkins fire is 100% contained. it broke out on october 17th near west cliff and custer county. and investigators say a downed power line sparked the flames which went onto burn more than 18,000 acres. 9 homes and 17 other structures were destroyed. a recall of frozen strawberries choleraans. cdc says -- coloradans. cdc sighs it may be a source of hepatitis a outbreak. authorities say they were served at fat albert restaurant in grely and red rooster he. streets will be closed as popular museum moves to a new location. they are moving the building. crews will use 6 remote

east of lamar-- here east of lamar. so if you are living out right along the kansas or nebraska line cloudy all day long out there. we will be clear to partly cloudy in denver and some of the mountains may have a little passing clouds maybe shower from time to time during the course of the day. before it moves out later tonight. all right. temperature wise we are going to be in the 50s and 60s out to the west. we will be in the 50s mountains. 54 in aspen today not too shabby and 60s and the eastern planes. pueblo looking at 70 this afternoon. 68 mostly sunny, 41 for the low tonight. and then 63 tomorrow and a little cooler and breezy and that's what that cold front willdo for us nothing heavy duty. i hesitate to call it a cold front because that's above normal. election day 67 up to the 70s wednesday briefly and then back down into the 60s on thursday. so there's a little up and down there but all of the temperatures are above normal for this time year, still.

,, ,, welcome back to cbs4 morning news. it's 6:54. 42 degrees. it's one of those days you want a jacket or your favorite broncos sweatshirt. you will need it throughout the day although we have sun shine on the way. fall temperatures are finally coming in to the colorado area. well the huge balloons that glide through manhattan on thanksgiving day are not easy to control as you might imagine. hundreds of volunteer balloon handleers train throughout the year to make sure that the holiday parade is a success.
